Jailbreak and Internet TV Question !
Jailbreak and Internet TV Question ! –
I like to watch internet TV (ABC iView) through my PS3 and though this can be done without signing on to PSN or updating firmware, is it possible that Sony might detect the newly installed back up manger (or even log files of this if I have uninstalled it) and then brick my console ?
Any insights on this would be appreciated ...
No one really knows for sure. Its was reported earlier that the PS3 stores files in the registry that indicate that the PS3 has been jailbroken. I suppose its posible for Sony to force a file or scan the system (according to the EULA, Sony can legally do this without notice anytime you are connected to the internet) that will render the PS3 "bricked" or banned from PSN. At this point, no one can tell you with certainty what will or will not happen in the future as far as Sony's quest to stop the homebrew community.
Thanks joehemi !
Thought I would post a thanks since I can't see a button for it or for rep either.
(I probably haven't made enough posts yet ... I guess.)
To be honest, I personally think that most of these 'sony can view your ps3 while you're connected to the internet' theories are all bs and are rumours going around.
I think your an Australian I pressume? Since I too have ABC iView and a few other streaming channels. I also watch a few episodes from time to time and I believe that theres no problem with doing so and that Sony can't really 'hack' into your pc via the internet unless they had a pre-programmed application on the ps3 that logs your activity done on the ps3 and then sends that to sony's hq. But I highly doubt that's the case.
What I do not recommend though is that to connect to PSN while on JB mode as that will most likely get you banned.

Thank you Geohot and fail0verfl0w for fully hacking the PS3.
Thanks for your input itsMoeyy.
As I don't play online ... I don't really have a need to ever connect to PSN. So it seems I may be pretty safe ... unless Sony has some sort of phone home app.
And yes I am Australian.
