Jailbreak - A few questions
Jailbreak - A few questions –
10-30-2010,07:50 PM
I checked the FAQ but was unable to find answers to these questions. Hopefully there are some experienced users here who can help:
1. Which usb jailbreak device should I get? I see there a quite a few modewls, but is there any actual difference between them? If not, I'd appreciate a suggestion on which shops have them cheap with worldwide shipping. preferably Europe, but any will do)
2. Is the external HDD necessary or can I use the PS3 internal disk? Also can I transfer games from the PC to the PS3's HDD over the LAN without actually ripping the original game myself?
And the most important one:
3. What happens when I decide to go legit and update to the latest firmware?
What happens to my game saves, my trophies and my account? Do the trophies stay from both legal and backup game titles? Does sony know I used to have a jailbroken ps3? And is there any chance of a ban? (if I had never connected to the PSN network, went online or played multiplayer since the jailbreak)
Thanks

a usb development board. although hunt around at home and see if u have any old ipod's lying about 1st cos I got a dev board then realised I had a 2g ipod mini which could be used for jb.

no external is not necessary, u can ftp games directly to the internal disk.

games saves should be fine. I dont think your trophies will get updated cos you cant sign into psn.

As luck would have it, I've got an iPhone 3GS which can't load linux which is needed for the PS3 JB to work (at least that's what I heard). So I'm gonna have to order the USB jailbreak online. Just wanted to avoid a scam site and order from a reliable source. Preferably a cheap one

I might have been unclear. I was planning to JB the ps3, but only temporary. So after say, six months, I'd remove the JB (and game images from the HDD) and update to the latest original firmware from Sony. I know I would no longer be able to JB the ps3 (unless by some miracle someone made a new JB), but I wonder what would happen to all the saves and trophies, and the account itself? Would it just sign in, sync trophies and work?
I'm guessing Sony can't detect the JB if I never go online/PSN/multiplayer while using it. Right? Or am I really banned from the PSN as soon as I plug it in?
I know it's doesn't make sense to some to go back to buying games, but I've already got a collection of some 30 original titles and was planning to eventually go back to playing original games, if nothing else, than for the multiplayer. But if JB-ing the PS3 means my account, trophies and online play are locked for life (on that console, anyway), I'm not sure it's worth it. For me, at least. That's why I'm trying to find out if the JB is really completely reversible.

trophies wouldnt sync and your account will be untouched because during the time you're JB'd you cant sign into PSN. well, at least not for now.

May I ask where are you going to get the game yourself?
How are you going to get a game without backing it up first?
