iphone wont turn on
tired the iphone way on my 2g iphone. started to install iboot then it just froze. nothing happened. i did notice that my pc didnt recognize my iphone and it just stood there. i unplugged it from my pc and just left it there because my lock button didnt work and i couldnt hard reset it. so later on i noticed that the screen was blank. i tried to turn it on but nothing. i also tried having it plugged in the wall and my pc but still wont turn on(on the pc when i plug it in nothing at all happens like a sound or see it on the toolbar). any have some advice.
Get it into the special recovery boot mode:
"Once it’s off, press and hold the “Home” button and plug your iPhone into a Mac or PC with iTunes installed. Keep holding the “Home” button until you see a dock cable pointing to the iTunes icon. iPhones running older software will display a yellow triangle and text which says “Please Connect to iTunes”. Once you see this image, you can release the Home button."
and install a firmware of your choosing.
sounds like your phone failed if anything.
you should ALWAYS be able to get into recovery/restore mode or whatever.
best bet is to let the battery die now if neither the pc recognizes it or the restore mode doesnt work.
if u took it out while installing iboot. It could be really bad
put it into DFU mode

and then restore with a clean firmware from Itunes
Ahhh I thought THIS was what I posted. I've done DFU mode before, but never recovery.

Make sure iTunes is up, and it should pick up a recovery device. it took me a couple restores to get the phone working again, as it would crash a couple times during the restore, but it would just progressively get further and further.
Also, first post, yay!
long time lurker :)
hope it works man, good luck!
Your right about the making sure the power is off completely - that always is hard to tell but you can just see the edges of the screen if it is still on. Once off I just hold down both the power and home buttons at the same time until the usb iphone logo shows up. Then just use iphodroid to "Exit recovery Mode". It will reboot ur phone hopefully all ok. Then try the process again. I hope you backed up your iphone first ?

I was able to downgrade from 4.02 to 3.13 and that is a scary process and i thought my iphone was screwed. This is easy as long as you have the right files.
Ive got a 3G, on 4.02 - jailbroken with Redsnow
I found this place invaluable.
Huge thanks to all here, always the best.
How long before we see Media Checks in Ps3 games - LOL
Yea I ordered a new lock button. Hopefully I get it soon and I'll be able turn it on.
well dude try rcboot utility it will enter ur iphone in recovery mode and then use it to exit recovery mode if it did not work exiting the recovery mode, u need to enter it the recovery mode with rcboot and restore it
if that did not work u need 100% new lock button
