Interesting PSN experiment
Interesting PSN experiment –
10-26-2010,02:47 AM
I don't know how far this will go, but today I was working on figuring out if there's a way to play Full PSN games as of yet from the links I've found. I procured Castlevania: SOTN, but after installing it of course asked me to visit the PSN to license the content. I figured, I was screwed (I still am don't get excited) but why not play around and see what I can find. I found that none of the information on ownership and stuff for downloaded games is stored in the SFO. I checked my legit, purchased SSFII:HD for this info and it wasn't there. My next idea, was to copy the eboot.bin from that into the MvC2 folder, since that's still the demo version and see where it went from there. Interestingly enough, I click MvC2, and it boots into my full version of SSFII. I wonder if this means with raw purchased eboots, the games will be bootable on any console? I'm not sure, I don't know. but I know that MvC2 booted into SSFII, and I thought that was interesting. As such, if anyone wants my eboot.bin to experiment, I suppose you could PM me, I'm not sure if it's illegal to post that sort of thing. Also, if anyone has any insight on how to get Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 full, or Castlevania: SOTN full...PM me. Alot of people hate on piracy, but the way I see it those games have already made their money so it's sharing now.

Having a look at the torrent sites it seems people are doing it.

why not just use the debug updates like all the other pirates on here?
BTW, how you feel is irrelevant, it takes time and money to port these titles to the PS3, and you are stealing them...

It is a bit of a gray area though IMO, since there is no legitimate way of buying those games anymore on JB PS3 and there are those of us who replaced the HDD or even bought new PS3s after 3.42 with a whole bunch of purchased PSN games now sitting unactivated. Debug updates can only do so much, less than 20% of my games had them available.

get the **** over youself!!! 99% of the people on this site pirate games and 99% of the idiots who say they do not pirate games are lliars!! Stealing what a joke yeah it takes time and money to port them over but I could also say that the software companies are stealing from the consumer by charging outrageous prices for games!! Do they refund us our money for shit games? No they dont. Plus i have purchased tons of games for previous consoles and they take that game and port it over so why should i have to pay more money for software i have already purchased? Now tell me who is stealing from who?

it may take time and money to port it over, but these homebrew coders have shown us exactly how little of both it really requires. If the software already exists, all it takes is editing the source code to run in the GameOS environment. You think that takes more than a couple of hours lol? It doesn't. Even on the wii, after hackers cracked the .DOL files for downloadable games, it was shown that nintendo simply encased good ol' rom files inside the DOL's with executables to run them just like an emulator would...so no, I've gotta say once again it's not really piracy because the original software developers already got their money, this time it's just people working under sony trying to make a quick buck. And as far as I'm concerned, sony can go **** themselves.
Note: I know all about the DEBUG patches and such, but that isn't yet available for PSOne games. Also, I'd like to see it for more DLC. I downloaded the Titan pack yesterday for Unreal Tournament 3, so it has to be possible for other DLC. The purpose of this thread was to encourage others to experiment with their locked/unlocked EBOOT.BIN files to see if those are usable on other consoles.

wait u have SSFII (unlocked) on your internal hdd right? I thought the game gets unlocked for a PSN-ID on purchase. So it could be, the eboot just somehow ignores in which folder it is and just tries to launch the game?
Why do u think this would make a game bootable on any other console?

Does this mean anything?

To the guy that says 99% of the people here pirate...You aren't God, so you don't know! Shut the **** up. Stop stealing. It doesn't matter how much they charge. If they charge too much, move on to something else. No one forced you to spend money on overpriced games you shithead. Stealing is stealing and that's that.
Back to my usual self.
To the original poster...you make a good point there, we will most likely need to decrypt the eboot to see if there are keys inside that you can simple extract and then recompile into another eboot, but that's another story. I don't know anything about it but that's what I think would happen.
Need an Original EBOOT???
Use your disc...

Did I ever say people weren't pirates here? (I actually said the exact opposite)
I'm pretty sure I threw you a nice clue on how you can get these PSN games (that you didn't pay for) running. You're welcome

What exactly are they stealing from you? Are you losing out monetarily when they release these titles??? They are losing out when YOU STEAL them.

Did they hold a gun to your head and force you to buy it? I'm pretty sure YOU decide what games you buy.
If it's shit, why do you want it so badly?

You're not! Toss the software you purchased in the console you bought it for, and I bet you it works, no extra fees at all!
Now, if you want to play a ported version (with online play, HD, and other enhancements), you'll have to buy the new version.

You're stealing from the dev's, plain and simple... You're also encouraging future dev's NOT to release their titles, or to port older games, as you'll just steal them too.
