Interesting Observation
Interesting Observation –

Hello,
I would like to start by saying that I have a 320gig CECH-2501B Slim console that came with the motion bundle and I have been following the scene's progress here since geohot released the first cfw. I successfully got everything running with no issues, avoided the waninkoko drama (I always wait at least 3 days after a cfw release before I install) even though my PS3 probably would have been fine, and when BM’s released: I had no issues getting them to work with games that include Little Big Planet2, Mindjack, Red Dead Redemption (with nightmare) and a shit load of others. In fact, out of 12 games Armored Core 4 is the only one not working.
My mom was so impressed with it that she ran out yesterday and bought a new PS3 from the exact same bundle. Unfortunately though, she updated via XMB to 3.55ofw before I could tell her not to. Only slightly concerned, I went on with installing kmeaw3.55, multiman version 1.13.01, and 3 of my known working games. There were no crashes or errors and everything is still running at blazing speeds. However, when I load a game in multiman/rogero/gaia and boot it though either app/home or the disk icon it just tries to load for awhile before exiting back to the xmb.
I find this interesting because I have two PlayStations of the exact same model with the exact same apps running the exact same games and one refuses to load backups (I even got the same result after updating her BM’s to the latest versions and used them with lv2.pkg) while the other (mine) works flawlessly with whatever I throw at it. The only difference between our consoles is that I use an ofw pup that I dl’d when geohot released his cfw and she updated hers today with whatever ofw is current.
This leads me to think that Sony may have modified the 3.55 ofw and released it discreetly. I don’t really have any questions (though I am taking suggestions) but I really just wanted to offer my conspiracy theory that Sony may have a trick up its sleeve for combating BM’s. My mom’s machine still has kmeaw cfw installed and tomorrow I will do some more research and post my findings here.
tldr: Sony may be patching security flaws in 3.55 ofw

why don't you just install the 3.55 ofw from this site then try again with the cfw also from this site mate worth a try

Booting discless seems to have incompatibility issues on some games, and since you have the Move Bundle (and so does your mother), you have the Sports disc, so you have a boot disc you can just leave in, I use my 2009 MLB Baseball disc that I got with my PS3 when I bought it at a pawn shop as a boot disc. Booting with a disc has higher compatibility, so I just always boot with a disc in, and that would be best anyway, IMO….

As of 1/26/2011:
3.60 Now Live!
PS3 80GB Non-BC >> Waninkoko 3.55 >> Kmeaw 3.55>> Sold!
Sure-fire way to prevent PSN Bans: Update to OFW!

You can downgrade that system to 3.41 if you want. Search around on this site and you will find a thread telling you how.

have you run the originals on your mum's ps3. some games need to be run at least once with the original then the backups work fine this could be the difference between the two consoles

Thanks for the responses!
Sadly though I have still not found success.

I have tried that with no success.
Mainly, I use a an ofw pup that I got from the sony site awhile back and it works great with my ps3 that is running all of the BM's with no issues. I am able to take my ps3 from stock to hacked and back again and everything still works. When I use the same files to hack her PS3 it simply refuses to boot into a backed up game.

I have tried both diskless and with one in the bay.

I dont think I can since her FW came stock with 3.50 ofw and I dont think you can go to a lower firmware than what the console comes installed with.

Yes, I have matched the exact same conditions that work with my PS3. The only difference is that she installed an ofw update from XMB yesterday before I could get to it .

On your mom's PS3, go into Recovery Mode (not service mode nor XMB) and update through data storage (USB) to 3.55 OFW (get it from here or somewhere) or a pre-patched 3.55 CFW Kmeaw.
I'm talking about full170MB .pup
I used the pre-patche full from here http://psx-scene.com/forums/f187/%5B...noobs-d-76406/

Unfortunately, it would take a few days if not weeks for new firmware produced playstations to hit the shelves.
I think the problem is more of permission problems which can be fixed with a fix permission package

Yup thats where I do it from. Here is my method and it works flawlessly on my console
from ofw> hold power down till system shuts off>hold down again until double beeps> option 5> option 6> install blackbox > install snes9x > install lv2.pkg > install multiman> install backups to GAMES folder on HDD0 > select backup in multiman > say no to loading without exiting to xmb > attempt to boot from /app_home/PS3_GAME/ or attempt to boot from the disk icon with a disk in the Blu Ray drive.
