Installing Kmeaw's CFW & its effect on harddrive swapping

AFAIK, if you change the internal harddrive, the system will ask you to put the latest update file (.pup).

I was wondering, which .pup will be asked (& work) if I put a new harddrive when the last installed firmware is kmeaw's 3.55 CFW. The OFW 3.55 .pup or the pre-patched 3.55 .pup?
If OFW 3.55 .pup, do we need to re-install the CFW? Will it work as good as before then?

I remember back then there were cases with faulty OFW 3.41 which resulted in "locked up" harddrive, since the system wouldn't read that faulty 3.41 when installing the new drive.

Well, just to make sure if there is a potential problem similar to that, before I make the jump to this awesome CFW :)

when you switch to a new hard drive all it does is format that hdd if it's blank, otherwise it just load up whatever saves and game data you had previously in that hdd.

256mb NAND consoles dont ask pup for reinstallation of firmware when you upgrade HDD.

Only 16mb NAND consoles. But just in case... just supply the OFW when asked then apply the CFW again. Same thing I done with geohot fw.

Mine is CECH-2506, so yes I have to have the pup ready whenever there is a need for installing a new HD.

Well, if reinstall>OFW> Geohot works, I suppose reinstall>OFW>Kmeaw will also works... right?

yep... reinstalling Official Firmware wont do harm anyway.

Agree. I'm just concerned with the possiblity that the system won't accept the OFW 3.55 pup during the reinstallation, since it is not exactly "the latest" after installing CFW. Should that happen, and then the system can't recognize the pre-patched pup ... then we have successfully recreated the 3.41 harddrive lockup situation.

Just me being paranoid, I guess :D

The 3.41 harddrive lockup situation has been fixed from sony with a secont 3.41pup after 5 days of original realease.This is only if you try to change hdd when your console is on 3.41 and i dont know if it is a problem on all consoles

I got a bit of a scare yesterday when I was installing kmeaw's CFW. I upgraded to a 500gb hd, then I installed OFW3.55. I started the CFW upgrade process from USB, when it reached 100%, I got a message like "incorrect hard drive found. please insert original hd", or something to that effect. I had to restart the PS3 manually and then the kmeaw's CFW installation process continued without problems.
