Hi,
Hope this information can help some people. I'm in the process of moving a PS3 into a 1.5U rackmount case and the BD-FPC FFC/ ribbon is too short. apart from hunting manufacturers for a sample they are murder to find the length I need. You cant solder FPC as it shrinks
So must make a small female-female pcb, good thing I've got SMD kit. This leads me to try & fail many combinations
Here's what I found CECHG03:
No BR-board = no homebrew loads fullstop? (out of 20 tested)
BR-board with power & without motors/lasers/sensor = homebrew loads,no BM
BR-board with all + broken laser = loads homebrew & BM(supported diskless)
BR-board with power & without motors/lasers + pin 22 on BD-FPC broken (N/C) = loads homebrew & BM(supported diskless)
pin 22? yep. I dont know if this is the only one that'll make this trick happen but its worth a probe/scope after work.
This was done on 3.55kmeaw without the BDB patch to update
I maybe wrong and spouting irrelevant bs. Corrections welcome! also my ps3 is a bit modded. (headers for led's & i2c hacked power/eject Xx pwm fanspeed thermistors on 10 chips lcd's) So It could be a one off !
Regards
