Hello. Well as I said I currently have a 120Gb Slim and the HD has filled up FAST. So I think its time for a bigger drive. I have been reading on a few posts about people having problems with stuttering in games so I would rather not have that happen obviously. So can anyone recommend a reliable HD of about 640/750Gb? Thanks.

Stick with the Western Digital Scorpio's:

WD drives are good but it's worth noting that a 750Gb costs almost twice as much as a 640Gb currently.

You get what you pay for. The OP is looking for a drive that is reliable and doesn't cause skipping and he never mentioned anything about cost. You can find cheaper drives, but most likely, you will have trouble in the long run.

I mean, the exact same Western Digital drive costs 2x more for the 750Gb than the 640Gb. It's not a matter of quality, just price per Gb.

I would stay away from Samsung drives...I still also stay away from maxtor...I like Western Digital and Seagate but will always purchase whatever has the best price point coupled with lengthiest warranty....I discovered being a fanboy of any product will eventually dissapoint you..if there product is good as they claim they will back it up with the leading warranty .....

That said if your gonna over 640 gb I would stay away from 5400 rpm drives, but 7200 rpm drives can cause heat so I would say in theory for best performance, thermal management I would go with a hybrid drive for anything over 640 gb. In theory will stop any skipping or hiccups and increase performance while lessening the disk from spinning too much because of the amount of SSD in the drive..should be thermally superior as well and wont cost as much as an SSD drive..

IMO, the 500GB drives offer the best price/value ratio right now.

I've also got the WD Scorpio Blue. Don't sacrifice reliability to save a few $$.

i have the 640 wd scorpio blue and it is great. i actually heard that you may experience some issues with the 750gb model, plus is costs alot more. i have that plus i got a 1tb external for $50. just be patient and you'll end up getting a great deal on whatever you decide to purchase.
