I can't jailbreak my 3.50 OFW PS3. HELP!!!

I have a 3.50 OFW on my ps3. Before i installed it i was have a freezing problem and i installed 3.55 OFW through the recovery and it completed successfully but now appears as 3.50 OFW not 3.55 OFW. Now, i cannot update to 3.55 and even the latest firmware which is 3.72. I have tried the following:

To rebuild the database and it just skips to 100%
Restore the ps3 system.
Formatting the hard drive.
PS3 cannot detect any firmware on a formatted FAT32 usb drive.

Can someone please tell what to do or did i do something wrong to format a freezing ps3? I don't know what to do now. Please help me...

Why dont you try to download the 3.55 OFW again then test it out? It might just be a corrupt file OR it could be the USB device your using is corrupt try formatting it and installing it through recovery or try a totally different one
