So I have an iso, successfully ftp into the ps3 and created a folder corresponding to the game ID. How do I go about transferring to internal hdd now?
Just straight dump? Or is there another process?
you cant play an iso you need the game folders/files easiest way is to just rip it from the original disk through the backup manager.
I think you can extract the ISO file using winrar or something. It should give you a folder called BLUSXXXX (XXXX = Numbers for certain games). It might be BLESXXXXX if it's not the USA version of the game. Then you transfer that folder to your GAMES directory (or GAMEZ, or BD-RIP or something... it all depends on the back up manager). What game are you trying to get on your PS3?
EDIT: Looks like you already know about the game ID... see if extracting does work.
