I don't know if this is the right section. But i'll try anyway.

I am trying to open my PS3 slim. And that freakin top won't come off! google is useless as usual, because it's a very specific problem...

All the videos I watched they just pull it off NO PROBLEM. But all I see is a bunch of resistance! I keep trying to pull it off and it just keeps resisting. And I don't wanna break the top...

If sony didn't put shitty thermal paste inside the ps3, I would not have to be repasting my PS3!

There's 3 places that screws are -- under the feet, under a plastic tab or two, and a couple of hex security screws near the front. Have you removed all of those? Don't recall how many in total, since it's been ages since I've opened mine up.

Yes, I removed ALL the screws. Underneath the front of the lid are some weird tabs though...

if you got the screws out from the bottom of the ps3 and the security screws out (will be 3 or 4 of them depending on your model of slim) then flip it on its bottom and lift from the back. in other words lift the top off from the back side and it will kind of tilt forward and then remove it. if it is not coming off easy then you missed some screws, please youtube how to take a slim apart,.

Thanks for insulting my intelligence. Like I diden't already do that...

And wait. do you mean pry the PS3 off from the bottom? instead of grabbing the top?

May I ask... is there something "wrong" with your ps3? I've never had any thermal pasting on my ps3 of any kind I thought that a ps3 slim wasn't prone to YLOD am I wrong?

All PS3 units have thermal paste beneath and above the heat shield to aid in the heat transfer. Sony uses cheap crappy paste but you are sort of right. the slim doen't usually have issues with over heating. at least not because of the thermal paste.
