How to return to virgin PS3
How to return to virgin PS3 –
04-27-2011,06:16 PM
Hello,
I've been following all the info on this forum for a while now, and I decided to get off the fence and jailbreak my ps3 (especially with this PSN mess) .
Before I try to jailbreak my 3.55 ps3 I wanted to know how I could change it back to normal should I decide to suck from Sony's mangled teat once again and get on PSN.
I tried searching but would I just use the official 3.55 firmware update? Also, I would probably want all the games off of the console to save space.
thanks in advance

Yep, you just have to delete the stuff you put on there and then update to the latest firmware if you want to go back.

LMAO!!! That pretty much sums up the situation.
And btw if you want out updating to an official firmware(by any means)
And reformating the harddrive from the ps menu should get u there.

What I did, was:
Full format
Restore default settings
Upgrade to OFW from USB drive
Full format/restore settings again (just because I was paranoid that upgrade logs could be left behind showing the old FW version, better safe than sorry)
Connect to PSN and enjoy your clean PS3.

can you imagine how long it would take to do this procedure?? it took 9hrs to full format a 160gb hdd... what happens when it's larger!? flashing to a different firmware pretty much purges the internal flashes anyhow, you're good with just re-flashing to ofw

Exactly what I did, Sony doesn't check what's on the HDD. Just the flash
