Split the game files using a tool like OpenSplit. Then put it on an external hard drive and use any (reasonably new) backup manager to copy it onto the internal hard drive and that will also automatically 'join' the files.
You can also transfer it from your computer to PS3 via. FTP although that might take a while

I use Gaia Manager can I do this with this or do I need to download Backup Manager?
Do you know if splitting is possible with a Mac?

You can play the game from the external drive also, just delete/remove the "z019_us.ps3.wmp" file, as that's the only one over 4GB. It's basically the ending/credits movie. If you want to keep it then you'll have to play from the internal drive. Simply dump the game to internal via whatever backup manager you wish to use, or FTP the game to internal from your PC if you acquired it with more nefarious means
