Alright guys, I got another PS3 and it wont let me play blu-rays on it unless I update. Which 3.41 file do I need, and how do I download it to the ps3? Can it be put on a usb drive?
MUCH appreciation!

you need to create a folder on your usb name it PS3 and inside PS3 Folder create another called UPDATE then put the update on that folder and connect it to your PS3 and then update it .
but new games will ask you to update to 3.50 not 3.41
Thanks bro, Its the Blu-ray movies that Im having issues with.
Thanks man. I found a version but unsure if it is the 2nd version ( first I read, had issues with audio signals )
Will this version work for USA based people?
how do i verify the md5?
Everything you need is there in those two links.
here is the direct link for the 3.41FW USA Region - http://dus01.ps3.update.playstation....7/PS3UPDAT.PUP
Look at the date is was posted- it's obviously the second release, and I've personally verified the checksum so I know sony aren't renaming firmware updates to try and trick you into updating to > 3.41 firmware.
Verify the checksum of the file you downloaded and that s it.
When you update it says which firmware you are about to launch.
However, is the bluray on that console completly dead or not just reading BL ?
Because I've heard in certain case, update cannot complete when certain parts of the console are not working.
It was the case for my friend's console which was on 1.93 and kept looping on 3.15 update because wifi / bluetooth card was dead
