My money is on never.
My money's on forever and a day. The level of skill needed to crack the newer cryptography would take massive skill and a shopping mall full of networked super computers plus more time than it's worth putting into it
Unless a Sony employee has a grudge and leaks it don't hold your breath
We got lucky the first time. Sony handed us their system and said here, just install a update file and you can have a hacked PS3.
They fixed some mistakes, but not all; but importantly, enough to seal this leak that was a huge/major flaw with their system.
Could you imagine if it where that easy to hack an xbox and wii. PS3 was just so easy, it's almost as if Sony meant to do it, or perhaps an employee with a grudge![]()

I'll chime in again I guess. There would have to be a flaw in the firmware somewhere, and that doesn't seem likely. I'm sure Sony had several teams of people check the validity of the firmware code that handles updates.
If you wanted to brute force the private key well... Let's say you could check a billion keys in one CPU clock cycle. And you had a computer that ran at a billion Ghz. And you had a billion computers on the planet doing this. It would still take longer than the age of the universe to brute force this thing.
My point was pretty simple, but perhaps you missed it. Neither the Xbox or the Wii was as easily hackable as the PS3 was. All you had to do was put a modified update onto a USB, and you could proceed to hack your PS3.
And yeah, I know the other two are hacked as well, but from my understanding the Xbox can be pretty tricky. And as for the Wii, there is still a lot more steps you have to go through then you do on the PS3.
