@eba0922, from my understanding, you only need the OFW if you are patching your own firmware, or installing the geohot CFW. Otherwise, I believe you can update right away. If you would like to be safe, and update to OFW 3.55, that is no problem, and there are some people who would recommend it. Here is a link: http://psx-scene.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=21

From what I've gathered, to make use of the latest version of multiman, I should be at 3.55. I'll go ahead upgrade the OFW, install the CFW, install multiman, and backup my first game (GT5) Hopefully it all goes smoothly.

It should. And if it doesn't, come back and I am sure some one here will be able to help you out.

I was able to update to OFW 3.55. I then attempted to system update PS3 CFW 3.55 Kmeaw. I agreed to kmeaw's license agreement. It copied the update data to the hard disk. This screen went black as if the PS3 was restarting and then I get a screen that says the latest version of the system software is already installed, there is no need to update. My only option is to press O to go back. The PS3 goes black and restarts again. I look through the menus for the two new folders and dont see them? What am I missing?

Installing it in recovery mode did the trick! That probably would have taken me forever to figure out, thanks man!

I backed up GT5(from a original game disk) to the internal HD, I tried launching it from multiman but all that happens is that I get sent back to the classic sony xmb with nothing in the "game" section to load from. I did play the game before I jailbroke the PS3 so there is saved game data on my internal HD. I dont know if this would cause problems? I remember reading that GT5 should play just fine without any need to downloaded addition packages, updates or eboots or something like that. I also believe I read that one DOES NOT need a game disk in the ps3 while launching GT5 but I tried it anyway (with the original GT5 game disk because thats all I have) and the same thing I stated above occurs. I get sent back to Sony Classic XMB but this time the GT5 game disk shows up under "games" but thats obviously because its just reading the disk. I'll keep reading up on things however, will post back with a solution.

Alright, let me make sure to understand how multiMAN works.
Once you choose the game, and launch it, you are redirected back to the XMB.
From there, you have one of two options: Select the Disk, or Select the other folder (not the *Install Package Files folder, but the *dev_hdd/app_home folder; or whatever the heck it is called (I know I probably just butchered the hell out of that)
).
