How to go from OFW 3.55 to REBUG 4.21.1 ?

Hey all, I'm back with another simple question, well I hope it's simple anyway.

I can't find any "instructions" for installing REBUG, and I'd like to assume I just rename it PS3UPDAT .pup, place on a flash drive in PS3 > UPDATE, boot into recovery mode, and flash away? Keep in mind I am currently on 3.55 OFW, not even jailbroken yet.

Also, I know the difference between CEX and DEX, I'm obviously on CEX but the REBUG 4.21.1 I downloaded has "REX" in the title, safe to flash?

I don't want to be like the countless idiots who've bricked their PS3s because they didn't know what they were doing, so I'm playing it safe and getting confirmation!

I would say to install 3.55.2 Rebug so you can then install qa_flag.pkg and run it. You'll know if you're qa flagged if you see a star in the update menu in the xmb. From there go back to 3.55 official through recovery menu, then go to 4.21 Rebug through recovery menu. It might be excessive but it's brick-proof

Thanks for the reply, I decided to do more research and went for it. All I did was update via XMB from 3.55 OFW directly to Rogero 4.21.

But while we're on QA, I know what it is, I know how to get it started with the button combo...is it worth doing at this point?

You can only enable QA flagging on 3.55 so it's too late to be worrying about it. That button combo you're talking about is only to confirm that your system is flagged.

I am about to update OFW 3.55 PS3 to Rebug. I want to set the QA flags, just to be safe, but then go to 4.21 Rebug. Why do I have to go back to 3.55 OFW, can't I just install 4.21 REX on top of 3.55 REX?

What is the benefit of having 4.21 over 3.55?
