Hey, I was also the victim of Waninkoko's CFW because my console features a 256MB nand.
However, I do have a Infectus v2 chip which is easy to wire up see:
    http://www.infectus.biz/diagrams/MB%20PS3DOUBLE.jpg
Using the double nand programmer I can dump and flash, however I can't simply flash the original ps3updat.pup.
Could someone tell me how to extract the vital parts of my bricked flash and recreate a working 3.55 OFW image?

    Thx

have made a backup of your nand before flashing? otherwise its not possible to go back.

as far as i know nand is special for every console ... and you can't take anyone others nand for your console

    I do have another PS3 with a 256MB flash but I don't think it'll work.
Each PS3 has a unique blu-ray controller-board which is probably paired to the console using some unique key stored in flash.
Sort of like with the xbox 360 consoles. When you lose the dvd-key you're pretty much screwed.
That's why you can't simply swap a complete BD-drive from one PS3 to another right?
I think the only solution would be to dump the bricked console's flash (with corrupted lv2), extract the keys/info that makes it unique like region-code/mac-address/bd-drive info etc and inject it into a working dump from another console.
Then flash that into the bricked console.

I think waninkoko should at least provide some tools or info to at least build a working image right?

if it trashed the metldr you are screwed.

Its got a per-console key, so if you didnt save before you flashed, you aint going back now.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but well someone has to do it.
Make sure you butter the non reflective side of your CD's / DVD's and Blu-Rays so that when you drop them, they land butter side down thus preventing scratches.

Be interesting to see more comments on this and maybe some of the knowledgeable devs can give some insight of why you cannot pair up from a working mb and drive, surly if it was a complete copy of a working ps3 they must be some hope.

ie a clone ? (with the right tools)

Also a little off topic, for those bricked consoles, is it not possible to just buy a mother-board and fit it ? I know the drive has to be paired but this is possible right?

all the devs say its not possible although i still have hope that it does. it used to work on the psp, only problem was that you couldnt update the firmware anymore. someone who has another ps3 should try this

what we need is a copy of a working 3.55 nand and copy of the bricked 3.55 nand.

Ah that's okay, we all knew the risks and you can find second hand ps3's very cheap these days.
So do the devs confirm that flashing waninkoko's cfw to a 256MB nand console trashes the metldr part of the nand?
