How can I install .pkg files without jailbreak?

I don't really know which forum this goes to, but how can I install .pkg files (specifically showtime, the video player) on my PS3 on 4.00 OFW? Is there a way to actually do this? Has anyone actually done this?

If so, could you please tell me how to do it? I prefer step by step instructions because those ones have less chance or risk of failing.

I am kinda new to the PS3 modding world, so please, I might ask noob questions.

There is no way to install .pkg files without a jailbreak. This ability is the essence of what it means to jailbreak.
