    Is there currently any type of homebrew media player that plays xvidsm, was wanting to be able to ftp the films strraight to the ps3.

    No media player exists for the PS3 yet, unless you consider AVCHD and Blu-ray support in MultiMan (AVCHDMan).

    you can ftp straight to ps3 hdd under hdd0 movies
    PS3 Slim v3.55 + CFW Kmeaw - 320HDD + 500gig WD passport

    Have you tried this? It doesn't work. The PS3 never makes the needed .xml file with the info about the video file. The files will never show up.

    no i have not but i had a few movies in that folder. i did a copy from usb storage and movies appeared in this folder so i would imagine a simple ftp into that folder should work...

    There isnt a movies folder in hdd0 futhermore I've also tried this with just a normal avi on a usb stick and the ps3 won't recognise the format as it says no titles available, is there anyway of getting xvids to work on it, perhaps by converting it to a different format or something.

    Or press triangle when selecting movies so you can see all files. It'll then show you all the folders, etc on your thumb drive and you select where it's stored and then the .avi file and you're good to go.
