help returning to OFW –
Hi, i've installed kmeaw on my faulty ps3 (blu ray drive not working, but i need to get it back to ofw.....but every PS3UPDAT i download, the p3 doesn't recognise it anymore.....even the ofw 3.55 that I used in the first place (console was originally on 2.52).
any idea why the console would suddenly stop reading update files?
it just gives the message "no appropriate update data was found" or something along those lines
Make sure your .PUP is in PS3 --> UPDATE -->(.PUP here) on your usb drive/external hdd.

yes, it's in the right location, and all named correctly, the ps3 just doesn't recognise any official firmwares....i actually have been able to reinstall kmeaw 3.55 just a a test, and it recognises it just fine.....so i'm not sure what the problem is.
also, anyone know of a WORKING rockbox port of something like psgroove etc for an ipod mini 2gen.
have tried loads, and nothing works.
i need to get into service mode so that i can remarry the new blu ray drive to the motherboard.....but so far im finding it impossible to access service mode.
PS3JIG for psp, doesn't work
every rockbox psgroove ive tried doesn't work.
everything i try, the ps3 just boots into the normal xmb, desn't switch off and doesn't enter service mode.
also tried the servicemodetool pkg.....which installls, but as with all other pkg's, it won't actually run, because the blu ray drive is not set up on the console, so i just get black screen
ok, so i've managed to get the ps3 to read the update file for 3.55 ofw now in recoery mode......it gets abour 72% in then crashes, causing boot loop, which i've fixed by switching hdd's so now i'm back to xmb at least.....still need to find a way to get into service mode though.....but i dont want to go spending out on a usb dongle, only to find that it won't work with my blu-ray drive faulty ps3......
anyone have any other method of reaching service menu from 3.55? or a way to downgrade to, say 3.41 (for more compatibility with dongles?)
from 3.55 to below i think you should check QA Flaq method .
thanks, just looked into that, and (for one) none of the links work anymore, and also it requires that you run a package in order to install and older firmware afterwards.....but i can;t run any pkg files because of the blu ray drive problem.....
can anyone confirm that a console with faulty drive (that has had no luck with DIY dongles/psp/ipod etc) can still get into service mode somehow with a shop-bought dongle?
have you tried the CFW with no Blue Ray Check ?
not yet....didn't see much point, as it still can't run pkg's.....i'm edging towards the idea that i'll need to buy a dongle to get me into fsm.....unless anyone can find a complete working package for either psp-1000 or ipod mini 2g (everything i've tried so far, the ps3 just boots up normally, straight to xmb)
just wanna know if someone has a confirmed working dongle on 3.55 firmware and no/broken blu ray drive to get me into service mode.
it's all very well having the pkg and files etc to remarry once youre in serice mode....but not a lot of good if it's impossible to access....anyone?
