HELP! PS3 update firmware problem

I was updating my ps3 from 3.4 to 3.55 through recovery mode. After the accepting the user agreement, the installation screen ran to 24% and the TV went black. The power light is still green and the controller's lights are flashing.

What do I do now please? I did check MD5 of the firmware. I'm so upset now

do you have a way of putting your ps3 into service mode? like you'd do when you downgrade.

this happened to me on my 60 phatty, i just let it be and after a little while it finished, but that was just me, yours could be diferent, tho i hope it works for you too... :/

I had something like this happen when I upgraded my 3.41fw. Screen just went black and I wasn't sure if the upgrade had completed or not. Not the best feeling when you know you shouldn't switch anything off while the firmware is updating...

Anyway, I waited about half an hour and then I rebooted - everything was fine and the fw had upgraded.

My only suggestion is to see if the yellow light next to the usb sockets is flashing or is it steady? If it's flashing, the console is still doing something. If it's not, then it's probably finished upgrading and your screen has just got black.

Also, your controller is attached to the console with a usb cable yes?

Yes the USB is still flashing.
I want to cry TT_TT The electric went out for a second and the PS3 was turned off. My heart almost stopped. Why do so many bad things have to happen at the same time?

Edit: the firmware is now on 3.55, or so the system information says. But how do I know if it is successfully updated? I'm so scared to touch it right now. Anyone please.

calm down mate! If you can tell it's on 3.55fw, your PS3 is running... You did it!

if it says it is, i think it is, you can try to redo the process, and if it is the same, it should not let you, at least thats what happpened in my case aswell when i first did it

am also glad you got through it, i think personally that is ok now. but lets wait to see others opinions

lol, is not the hart thats weak bud, is the thought of spending more $ if it goes the wrong way lol, i know thats what i felt hehe, glad is all going right for you bud
