Help a noob! Discless problem

Please guys I need help!!

Ok I am running kmeaw 3.55 on my 40gb ps3. installed the firmware fine following all the instructions and have got BM up and running and emulators such as FBA and SNES are working like a charm. The problem is that my bluray drive is dead. it ejects and takes in games fine. Therefore i am interested in discless booting but have not managed to get anything working yet.

I have tried a couple of games and they are picked up by Multiman, Gaia and Rogero fine. In Gaia 2.07 I select discless and click on the game. It takes me back to xmb but my /app_home/PS3_GAME folder is always empty! Even if i run permission fix and lv2 it makes no difference. This folder is always empty and therefore I cannot load the game (error 80028F14). I have tried NFS:HP and Mindjack, games that are supposed to run discless. I am assuming the games are correct as they are recognised by every BM I have tried? Any help appreciated!

Use a older version of your bm that doesn't do auto patching and try using the lv2 patcher instead.

thanks for the reply. just tried gaia 2.02 with direct boot on and off but it quits to xmb and the PS3_GAME folder is still empty. I tried by running LV2 patch and without but no difference. Does the fact that Gaia picks up mindjack mean the games directories are all correct, or could something be wrong with the files?

Don't do directboot, it only works on about 10% of games.

tried with both mate, makes no difference, the app_home/PS3_GAME folder is still empty. what else could be stopping the game from appearing there? going nuts here!!! worth trying other firmwares?

i think.. now dont hold me to this, but i think i saw someone say that u can boot from disk by using a dvd, saying that the BM shows it as blue ray... i dont know if this is true... but i do know some games do require a disk to be present and u have to start from blu cd and not apps\home ext, but never the less i have used kmeaw 3.55 for a while now and used rogero and multiman and all my backups show up on both blu ray that in ps3 and apps\home

the bluray drive is knackered, but it does still read dvds. I've just tried it with a DVD in the drive but still no luck. after trying with gaia and rogero when going back to xmb there is no disc icon to click and no game in the PS3_GAME folder. clicking that folder gives the error 80028F14. It as is there is an error when trying to mount the game. I run the lv2 v6 package which says it does the payload fine...any more ideas? cheers

Search the site for that error code. I remember seeing a thread about this the other day.

I use MM 1.13.04 (no higher or lower) and have gotten really good results with my games so far for my non-disc reading ps3.

NFS HP needs a disc though...tested on my other ps3 with disk reading capability.

Woohoo! Some good news. Just downloaded lv2 v9 and now using gaia 2.01 the game was mounted on PS3_GAME. mindjack worked from internal!! So the lv2 version 6 i was using wasn't doing it. mindjack worked without a disc in the drive. remember my bluray is knackered so having a game in there wouldn't have made a difference. just copying over NFS now...cheers for the help guys...
