Help, Connect Controller via usb random screen –
Okay, exact sequence of what I was doing.
couple of weeks ago upgraded to 3.55, kmeaw no problem...running backups from xternal no problem for a few weeks. Trying to get red dead redemption transferred to internal. Couldn't find directory to transfer to....so after a few create files/delete files (deleted nothing I didn't create), finally learned its hdd/laun12345/gamez and I was good to go. Booted up game using rogero 7.9a....back to XMB froze. Restarted and tried again...booted up fine no problem. messed around in game for a few and then hit ps button, clicked on ftp manager because I was going to xfer another folder....left room to go to ftp client on pc and it wasnt working. Went back and all I see on screen is the connect controller via usb. When I do this and hit ps button, it says I need to reinstall system s/w.
now I booted into safe mode and tried to fix system files, and it just rebooted/gave me the same shit.
any help to steer me in right direction would be greatly appreciated.
Probably got HDD corruption with all the crashes. If the recovery options for rebuilding the HDD don't work, you may be stuck following what the PS3 wants you to do.
ok, so a few more questions...what is the route of action to get back to kmeaw CFW again? Will doing said actions erase my game data? Is there a way to back that up?
basically is it just like when I upgraded to 3.55 from usb stick and flashed kmeaw cfw?
Well, it depends on which firmware it's going to accept. As you were using CFW when this happened, it may want kmeaw's CFW on a thumbdrive. Going to have to test and see what it accepts. As for your game data, hard to say. If it's full HDD corruption, it will probably format. If not, it might just reflash the appropriate areas like it does when you update and you'll be fine. Once again, till you do it, there's no way of knowing.
thanks for the help...so what exactly do I need to do? boot into recovery and reinstall system s/w?
Yeah, same method you installed kmeaw's originally. x:\PS3\UPDATE and follow the prompts as the PS3 tells you what to do.
okay will report after work. once again, I appreciate it
