i have a firmware 3.55 cfw ps3 and i switched the hardrive in it, with a firmware 4.11 hardrive, does that effect the firmware? is my ps3 still on firmware 3.55? i cant look bc it has RSOD.![]()

You can not swap hard drives between PS3s. If you want to use it you need to hook it up to your PC with a USB enclosure, delete the partition and create a new unformatted partition. You'll then let your PS3 format it
actually the PS3 will simply say it cant run the software and request that you format the drive and reinstall 3.55 system software if a drive from another console is inserted. just as long as you use a 3.55 PUP you should be good.
Maybe, but it's always better to start clean and since you can't use the data on the drive anyway, deleting the partition is the best option. I bought a USB enclosure for $6 so they're not expensive
but it said " Are you sure you would like to install 3.55-KMEAW, if you do you cannot go back to the Previous Firmware" and i installed and nothing went wrong. Said i just Put the original HDD back in the 3.55?
