ive got a 60gb phat ps3 with rogero 4.40 on it,i bought it with the cfw on it,coz i wouldnt have a clue how to install it,if i was to change the harddrive will i have to reinstall rogero? thanks
On a 60 GB model you don't have to mess around with the firmware to switch hard drives, just swap it out and let the system format it on the first boot
Sorry mate,it was a 40gb but where I got it from didn't have any 40s left so he put a 60 in it,I should of said that before lol
Oh ok well in that case I should say if its CECH-G or earlier model fat console you don't need to mess with the firmware to upgrade hard drives.
Its the cech-Lo3 one, think its the 2008 model
In that case you need to do a little extra work.
First make sure your disc drive is empty so the system doesn't accidentally pull an update off a game disc.
Get a copy of the Rogero 4.40 update that you already have installed, put it on a fat32 formatted usb stick in this setup: USB:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP'
Then you can switch the drives, on the first boot make sure the usb stick is plugged in.
Follow the prompts by the system and it should format the hard drive and install any firmware files it needs to the drive.
Newer systems have a smaller flash chip which doesn't fit the whole firmware, some files need to go on the hard drive which is why these extra steps are needed.
Ok thanks mate ill give it a go
