Hard drive encryption

Is there any I can pull the hard drive console specific key off a firmware dump? I want to save my files if I can on this kinda broken ( waiting to be fixed) bad firmware ps3.

Even if you could get your console key, I'm not sure there is any software that can decrypt the files. There was a proof of concept from Naewhwert that came out a month or so ago to do this, but I don't think there's a compiled version released. I'm half tempted to get my hands dirty and try to make an executable myself.

Anybody know more about this?

I believe kakaroto found a way to disable hard drive encryption on the PS3. Doing this would require formatting your hard drive though.
