GT5 Backup to hdd?

How do I backup my original GT5 disc to the Internal or External hdd.
I've tried multiman and open manager but both get part way through copying and just lockup and freeze, I tried about 10 times now and it freezes at anything between 20%-70% complete?

I'm using the ps3 to copy it to the internal or external hdd with the same result, what am I doing wrong?

3.41, minimus AVR 32, multiman.

Check you have enough space on the PS3 hard drive, and check for obvious scratches on the media itself - media could be bad?
