Got a YLOD now .. What should i do

Hey guys i have a REALLY weird problem with my ps3 im on waninkoko cfw v1 on my slim 250 when ever i turn on my ps3 when i log out on psn and even while staying on psn i go to the game section my ps3 locks up and then i hear three beeps and turns off ? :S
any help ?

I would say start off by restoring to 3.55 OFW, and then seeing if it still shuts down on OFW.. If so you might have a bad unit? I would say it's most likely a firmware issue and not a hardware issue, that is very strange indeed..

Steps to take:

OFW > Test > OK?, NO-Toke, Yes-CFW> Test

If test fails, start at 1 again..

i got it working i guess
googled it more few pages later found out that some people either put their ps3 slim standing up or take off all wires and restart
i did both things its working i go onto game i thought it was sony for a few seconds seeing im always using steaths while online so i deleted it
i kept it turned on for about 10 minutes and it worked!

Was you installing firmware at the time or did it just happen?

how did you got that by updating to CFW ? if yes then try to downgrade it to 3.41 or lower and then try again .

It didn't happen when updating
I played Black ops since it was like 3 AM and I couldn't sleep
Now I was going to play a backup of Wanted and now it showed a yellow or white light and starts blinking a red light and I heard 3 beeps

Hello there, My PS3 (FAT) started to show the same behavior that yours. it randomly shuted off itself when I was playing a game or just after turn it on. But it didn't happen when I was doing other tasks like watching movies.

It happened before I installed any custom firmware or even used the dongle, so in my opinion it was not related to that. I oppened my console and cleanned it out, but that didn't solve the problem. After many tries and looking over the internet, I gave up and took it to a technician (not $ony) and he was able to solve it. However, the problem started again after a few days. It was part of my fault, because I didn't want to wait and leave the console to him in order him to test it (I do really wanted to play dead space 2), now I sent it back to him and I'm going to wait until he tells me he was able to solve it and test it. I can assure you is a hardware problem.

In the meantime, I bought another unit (this time a slim) and I'm playing with it. The only good thing I can tell you it's that I always was able to turn on my unit again, so I think the problem can be solved. I also got one of two yellow lights, but it turned on again.

I think the technician will return my unit this weekend, so I can tell you then what was the problem.

Well I have a slim though
And many places ask you to buy a book -_-
The only way I know how to fix it is the blow dryer way ...
Does that really work on slims?
Just have a Blow dryer blow hot air into your ps3's vents then fan it out with a fan?
