yes that is very cheap im in uk and that would work out at around £47.66 . 1.5 tb here would be around £100 so seems very good.

What the heck, no that is not a good deal. I paid $70 for the 2 TB drive of the same thing. You will have to remember though since it is USB 2.0 hard drive, it will be slow, so when backing up your game, it may take a while.

It might give you problems, the PS3 USB is 2.0, so no matter what drive you throw at it, it will always be slow. However it may give some stuttering in the game though. I had a case where the game would actually freeze on me but the PS3 did not crash, so after a while it unfroze itself. If I were you, I recommend getting a larger internal hard drive for your PS3. It uses SATA and SATA is much faster then USB 2.0.
I have a high failure rate with Western Digital drives, but their warranty is good. You may not have any problem though.
Another thing to keep in mind is if you are going to get in internal hard drive, it should at least be 7200 RPM and has to be 2.5" form factor.
It is up to you how you want to approach this, neither is a bad choice, it is just a matter of personal opinion.

For the PS3, no because the PS3 uses 2.0 and the drive will most likely step down to USB 2.0 mode. As I said no matter what hard drive you throw at it, the hard drive will always be slow.
As for PC or MAC with USB 3.0, then yes it is better.

ty for the info. I just ordered the hdd 1.5 2.0 wd. So far i have the 160 and that is filled. So i need to find a external. I have a 300 gig wd for my wii. That works great so i fig id get that for ps3 but bigger. But all the games i have played has been threw my internal 160gig. So that's why i have never had a prob. Will i have a prob with the wd 1.5 external? I run rogeros 3.55
