    hey

well ive done this psgroove thing and to be honest i didnt think much of it and i just did it because i could. now ive been doing some reading and people have been pretty scared going back online (and upgrading the firmware and not doing the jailbreak thing anymore)...this is concerning...

has anyone done this? is psn going to shut me down if i removed the psgroove chip and deleted the back-ups and upgraded to 3.50?

its my own fault for not doing enough reading but i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this?

If you are scared of being banned best advice to you is to Format the HDD and maybe to be on the safe side Reinstall the Current 3.41 firmware but using the Recovery Mode. That should put you in the clear.

I would add, remove the HDD, format the HDD in a PC, then put it back, and format it back on the PS3.

Sony have no cause or legal means to ban you right now, you make a choice of either PSJB or PSN and it's up to you.

CFW, when it arrives, will likely cause a ban though.

Cause? Legal means? They have every right to ban anyone that does violate the terms of agreement and of course they have cause, just look what this did with the PSP.

I'm pretty sure that jailbreaking yerr PS3 is a violation against the TOS.

They will likely do what MS did, gather data for a long while and then hit us all with the ban hammer. And we will, much like the 360 users, have absolutely no right to do anything about it. Well, except whining about it.

As I understand it, the best advice right now is to block Internet access all together. People that have had their consoles connected while in debug mode clearly are at risk of getting banned in the future.

Have you ever updated your firmware? If so, you had to accept to their terms. The same thing happens when you first create an account.

Well the problem is that it isn't a hardware modification in the true sense and as soon as you remove the dongle, you remove the modification.

I could visit a friend's place tonight and 'mod' his PS3 and then uninstall any homebrew apps, disconnect the dongle and leave and the owner of that console would never know.

Is it then fair to ban that person's console when the warrantee hasn't even been voided?
