I setup a gigabit ethernet connection and I'm getting a really slow rate of FTP ~200KB/s. Before that I was doing it wirelessly and I was getting 1MB/s which was taking ages but it was still faster than this. I'm using a 100Mbps switch and I connected the ps3 and laptop (with gigabit ethernet card) to the switch and the switch to the router. Can someone help me please

connect your laptop directly to the ps3, no router. setup static ip that is one digit off from the static ip on your ps3.

    that will fix it.

That, or one of your devices isn't auto detecting the link speed right. Try setting your computer to 1Gbps HALF or FULL speed depending on what it's set to currently (if set to auto-set, try half first). More then likely your switch/router doesn't support full gigabit bi-directional throughput.
