Getting 250G slim, which 3.41 firmware to use

Hi,

I'm supposedly going to get a "brand new sealed" 250G slim ps3. Assuming the stock firmware is below 3.41, which 3.41 firmware should I use to upgrade to (original 3.41 or modified 3.41)?

Modified 3.41. The first one had an issue with HDD's if you ever plan on upgrading.

assuming its 3.41. chances are, it will be 3.5 haha

the modified 3.41 was for the downgrade (though it was unnecessary)

use the one from ps3-hacks.com
its the original 3.41 second silent release with md5 e07d2b84c9e9691c261b73e5f1aada20

ps: it will most probably have a firmware lower than 3.50 as the 250 gb version is now out of production so it will be an older unit

Thanks for the quick response.
If this deal falls through and I have to buy a new new ps3 160G console with 3.42 or 3.50FW pre-installed am I out of luck? (I keep hearing users' unsuccess to downgrade)

getting the 250 gb one will pretty much ensure that u get a lower firmware.....
however if u cant get it, read up on the threads and note down the codes for the ps3's which cant be downgraded and make sure u avoid those....

I've a Slim 120GB (CECH-2004A) and would like to upgrade it to a HITACHI 2.5" 500GB 5400RPM. I was upgrading as soon sony releases new firmwares until 3.50.

Right now I just downgraded from 3.50 to 3.41 using moddified PUP (DFG.rar) and I'm jailbreaking it using my Nokia N900 regullarly.

Will I have problems if a change the hard drive from 120gb to 500gb using Moddified PUP???

nope dont think so.....
the modified 3.41 is the same as the second silent release with some minor changes so i doubt it will cause any problems

I bought a second hand 250gb 2weeks ago it had 3.20 on it, and I used the SECOND 3.41 release (fixed version) from this site.

I did not verify the MD5 because I used the mediafire link not the Sony link.

For petes sake why are some of you still suggesting the modified file? Its not necessary to downgrade. Use only official firmwares to downgrade
