I downloaded a .PUP (a questionable one) and I want to see if it's actually what it says it is without installing on PS3. Is there a way to get the FW ver. on the PC via some sort of .PUP decrypter or something?

There's a little tool for that, called PS3UPDAT.PUP Version.
You can download it here: http://www.ps3-addict.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=793 (Click "Tèlècharger")

Well I'm embarrassed to say this yeah i knew about the MD5 checksum thing, the thing is if this is what it says it is (im sure it isnt) a checksum prolly wont be listed yet. Im pretty sure this is a rebug 3.60 spoof or something. I'm embarrassed cause I know 3.60 keys arent leaked and 3.60FW isnt out and there all fake, but the reason I wanted to check anyway is the video I saw had the fw at 3.60, the cloud online 3.60 only thing, no tape edits, played homebrew, had install pkg and installed a .pkg etc etc, i guess if he played portal 2 on it i would be sold hahahaha, he also mentioned using Math's technique. there was no cash surveys and there was actually a working link. Also alot of positive comments, sorry i feel like an idiot. HAHAHAHAHA!
Also the fw is only 5.78mb which is odd.
I'm surprised I didnt have pup unpacker in my bin with cygwin already (via overflow tools). Anyway yeah it was spyware i figured as much, took care of it, yeah PUP's are usually like 170+ MB's. I'm just tired and bored I guess. executable disguised as pup.
