Geohot CFW or Wait?

Hi All,

I'm trying to decide whether to install geohot cfw or wait.

My Situation:
I have a Slim on 3.55 cant be downgraded with latest method, Whilst I would like to mess around with jailbreak stuff like ftp etc, my main day to day usage would be to play my backup games.

I know that there is only a small amount of games that are supported at the moment using geohot cfw and multiman.

What is it we are waiting/hoping for, is it a new backup manager that would work on geohot cfw, or are we waiting for a new cfw.

We're waiting for new CFW that allows peek/poke on the lvl2 memory so we can put in the syscalls for backup managers.

So i'm probably best to wait for new cfw, or will it not matter either way.

Could I install new cfw over gehots when available, or would it be recommended to wait and stay on official 3.55 for now.

Yup, you can install a new CFW. But I think it's better to stay on 3.55 for now, even because there's no Backup Manager or OtherOS support in geohot's CFW.

What I dont understand is... I have heard that you should stay on 3.41 OFW. And that 3.55 OFW might be bad for future jailbreaking. But can you upgrade from 3.55 OFW to 3.55-JB or 3.41 OFW to Jailbreak? I have been trying to upgrade from 3.41 OFW to 3.55-JB but it doesnt work.

Makes me long for the "Is GT5 working yet?!" posts of oh so many weeks ago....

thats a very helpful post. And it takes up as much space and bandwidth as mine did. It also accomplished the same thing as my post as it didnt help anyone. So why even bother to post it then? Oh thats right you're a "Mean A**hole"

you need to upgrade to 3.55 to install geohot's 3.55-jb.. 3.55-jb is not a full firmware... needs 3.55 to install

Thank you Skylacan. Thats what I was wondering. The thing that was confusing me is that alot of people are talking about downgrading from 3.55 to 3.41. I was afraid that if I upgraded to 3.55 it would prevent me from installing any CFW.
But on the other hand this does say that 3.55 will disable Jailbreak. Ps3OsRels - EurAsiaWiki Or is that refering to breaking the Dongle Jailbreak?

I cannot stress this enough, be careful what you put into your system.

Right now the best FW to be on is the Official 3.41 and USB Dongle to "Jailbreak" your PS3. So far all of the Homebrew and Manager's are working.

If you are on Official 3.55 stay put.
Do not install nothing, not even geohot's plug in.
