Geohot CFW homebrew with broken drive board?

So i just updated my secondary ps3 to 3.55 and flashed it with geohots cfw.
Sadly this ps3 has an broken bluray drive board.
I installed the signed version of blackbox 1.2 but when i try to launch it, it only boots into black screen. Also tested going back to OFW and back on geos but the problem keeps the same.
Does anyone know if its possible to launch homebrew on geos CFW with an broken bluray drive board?

Hi!
Did you try ever to run a game from XMB?
I mean like Warhawk or PAIN or those Ducks... they are available also from PSN so they don't need a disc.
I also have a broken board, but I noticed that if I remove the board then no game can run - same as you, black screen.
Even though I don't have a blu-ray drive, I have the broken board still inserted. I somehow managed to get so mad, that I made it to work by adding over 20V directly to the board, it burned but now the PS3 thinks I have a drive and even a disc inside
P.S. a capacitor fell off, I added much soldering to it

go to recovery console and run "rebuild database" you need to reinstall the official firmware first hope it helps.


blah seeing you were running hombrew i don't know if it will work. i advise you this because when i reflashed geohot's cfw with the OFW all of my games suddenly stop working my psn games would freeze and my retail disc stop working freezes also. so what i did was installed OFW again through recovery console. then after that i run "rebuild database" through recovery console. but seeing that your bluray drive is broken and that your trying to run a homebrew application as a game im not sure if what im advising you would work. cause a homebrew will not work on OFW -.-

Needs about 1h. Lets see if it'll run.

i alread reinstalled the official firmware and afterwards geohot cfw. But i havent ran "rebuild database" before. I'll try it afterwards i tested the demo i'm downloading right now

Run the rebuild database first before installing geohots cfw so that it's sure that everything is working fine.

So unfortunately the psn demo also boots into blackscreen.
I'll try the rebuild database this evening
