game speed: internal hdd vs external hdd

I'd like to know the speed is when you play the game with the internal hdd and external hdd that u plug the usb to.
Is there a big or slight difference?
Cause I have a 500gb external hdd to use with the ps3 and so far it works great, it's fast, but if I use internal hdd would it be much faster?

i would have thought internal would be faster... SATA is faster than USB...

however if you put the external hdd into the ps3 that would then work just as fast

I read that playing off the actual disc gives the slowest load times (out of disc/internal/external).

I imagine internal to be faster then external but im really not sure by how much or if it really makes a huge/noticeable difference.

It's at least more convenient to use my external as I can use it for other things!

Tested with modded 3.5 internal... Tekken 6 ps3 loads about 7-8 sec while xbox360 loads around 5...

i was wondering why would it load slower.... how about ssd?
