I've followed several guides in regards to connecting my laptop to ps3 via ethernet cord.
Some suggested that I must use a crosscable, but others say that an ethernet cable will do the job just fine.

I have 3.55 kmeaw firmware installed, along with multiman 1.16.13 version and BDEMU patch.
    Everything works fine.

The settings saved on the console is as follows:

    Internet Connection = Enabled
    Connection Method = Wired Connection
    Speed and Duplex = Auto-Detect
    Address Settings = Manual
    IP Address = 192.168.1.2
    Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
    Default Router = 192.168.1.1
    Primary DNS = 192.168.1.1
Secondary DNS (Leave Blank at 0.0.0.0.0)
    MTU = Automatic
Proxy Server = Do Not Use
    UPnP = Disabled

Also, on my computer, the iPv4 settings of the network:

    IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.3
    SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: . . . (blank)

    Preferred DNS server: 192.168.1.1
    Alternate DNS server: . . . (blank)

I initially tried connecting through the ftp server using filezilla.
When it didn't work, i tried smartftp and flashFXP, but both to no avail.

I have tried it for several hours and still don't understand what might be the problem.
I have tweaked the settings in accordance to different guides (such as using Preferred DNS server to 1.1.1.1),
but none of them worked for me in this case.

I get the following error messages:
    on flashFXP:

    FlashFXP 4.2.1 (build 1745)

    Winsock 2.2 -- OpenSSL 1.0.1 14 Mar 2012

    and nothing shows

    nothing appears either.

why ask for help when you already got your answer... you need crossover cable . easier just to hook up to router.
Freedom of speech my ass . Now I see why all they Devs are leaving.

Go to the start menu and hover over "Connect to". Select "Show all connections". Identify which device is the LAN port you will be using, right click on it and select "properties". Click on the item "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" then click the button "Properties". Click "Use the following IP address:" and "Use the following DNS server addresses:"

Fill out the box so it appears as below:

    IP Address 10.1.1.1
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Defualt Router 10.1.1.0
    Primary DNS 10.1.1.0
    Secondary DNS 10.1.1.10

    Step 2 - PS3 Setup

Go to the settings tab on the XMB, then select "Network Settings" followed by "Internet Connection Settings". Push ok on the prompt and select "Custom", "Wired Connection", "Auto-Detect" then "Manual". Fill out the form as follows.

    IP Address 10.1.1.2
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Defualt Router 10.1.1.0
    Primary DNS 10.1.1.0
    Secondary DNS 10.1.1.10

Select "Automatic", "Do Not Use" and "enable". Push X to save the settings. Test connection to verify you can acquire an IP Address. Internet Connection should fail.

Open your FTP Sever on your PS3. I prefer BlackB0x FTP 1.2, but you can use MultiMAN or other types if you wish. It should tell you your IP Address is 10.1.1.2 .

    Step 3 - FTP

Open your FTP client and type in your PS3 IP (10.1.1.2) and make sure its on Port 21. Connect and begin transferring.

I used same cable from my cable modem to my pc."Ethernet cable"

    Also I used FlashFXP

    Hope this helps.
