FTP on 3.55 –
02-21-2011,04:26 AM
So, I've been on kmeaw's 3.55 firmware for a few days and loving it, but 1 thing I just can't figure out. How to transfer via ftp. I installed blackbox 3.55 but can't seem to figure out how to use it. I did find 1 tutorial but it's for windows and I'm on a mac.
Anyone whould could help me solve my little problem?
thanks

You don't use blackb0x so much as just run it. It'll show you your PS3's IP. Then just hop over to your computer and ftp to that IP. No username, no password. Don't use Filezilla, it doesn't work.

You need an FTP client for your PC. On windows you can use Filezilla, Total Commander or whatever. Use google to find something for your mac.
Your pc and your ps3 have to be in the same network. Start the FTP homebrew on your ps3 and it will show you an ip-adress. Enter this adress in your ftp client on your pc. Port is set to 21. Username and password is not required. Than just connect.

When I start it the "PS3 ip:" stays empty, no IP adress is shown.
I have the PS3 connected directly to my pc using an ethernet cable.

Not that this is undo-able....but do you not have a router?
Doing it the way you're doing requires a little networking that I'm honestly too lazy to type out.

You'll need either a router or a cross-over Ethernet cable.

If he uses a crossover cable it still won't work automatically. It'll require configuration. He'd have to configure a static IP on both the PS3 and the computer. Both IPs on the same netblock.
