Freezes/very slow with external harddrive
Freezes/very slow with external harddrive –

edit: nevermind, I'm starting to see that my external is becoming corrupt
This is a strange problem I've been having the past few days, and I doubt anyone is having similar problems...but just to make sure, I'll drop this here anyway:
My external harddrive used to work perfectly on my PS3. Out of nowhere I noticed whenever I tried bringing up "Install Package" from XMB, it would show nothing, then I would press O to cancel and press Install Package again, and after doing that my console would freeze. But I also noticed that when I unplugged my external out from the PS3 it would unlock the freeze.
But my main problem is scrolling through games on the backup manager is verrrrry slow. Ridiculously slow/laggy. I know that it's a problem with my external because yet again, I would unplug the external and scroll through the games listed on the internal instantly. I'll also mention that playing the games is fine, it's just selecting them through the backup game list takes insanely long now.
The only thing that comes to mind is that it's some kind of hardware/data error with my WD PASSPORT external harddrive. And I believe this all started after I put 1000+ SNES roms on the root, and deleted it when it couldn't read it..not too sure what could've caused it though. It's also strange because my external works perfectly when connected to my PC.
Anyways, I'm thinking that formatting my external might do the trick, but before I do that, I just want to see if anyone has any ideas?
Things I've already tried:
-ChkDsk the external for any errors (none was found)
-Reformatted PS3 Harddrive
-PL3 w/ GAIA manager
Any input is appreciated, thanks.

Wow I had the same problem! My WD 1.5 TB started to go slow loading the list of games in backup manager. Then a few days later games started to take a long time to boot, or they would skip and lag. I decided to reformat. transfering 200 gigs to my pc took 3 days! From pc to new external about 4 hours. Windows chkdsk found no errors but the WD disk checker reported too many bad sectors.
