format new 640hd,3.41 cannot load

please help i am getting very frustrated.i have upgraded the memory to 640 gb.i format it.i tried to load the 3.41 firmware and followed all the instruction PS3>UPDATE>PS3UPDAT.PUP fat32 and it load upto 50% then stop and will reboot and it will say there are no program and that i need to load a firmware 3.41 or later.i am a newbie and getting very frustrated.did i brick my system.thank you in advance any help will be greatly appreciated.

did you tried at Recovery mode ?

maybe something wrong with 3.41 file, try another see what happens.

You have the 1st version 3.41 update which had a problem with upgraded hdd's you need to get the 2nd version which corrected this problem.

Just about to downgrade a machine to 3.41 care to point me in the right direction for the working 3.41 PUP.

Dont be a smart arse, I am aware of the search function and how to use it and am also aware of the PUP thread but am unaware if the 3.41 firmware in the thread is the faulty one or not, wasn't aware there was a dodgy one floating about!

#You use the modified pup to downgrade i think so that will be fine as it is.
