I guess a thread with confirmations would be very helpfull.

Just post your model (PHAT/SLIM, Region, from which FW you updated) and if the cfw works or if it bricked your ps3.

    Add a poll .

It should work for everyone if Waninkoko didn't specify which PS3s it will work with, although I've read in one of the threads that there are reports of Slims bricking (possibly 3.42 and up factory ones?). Just read a guy with an MGS4 fat PS3 has bricked.

    Too many possibilities

    FW 3.15, 3.21, 3.41, 3.42, 3.50, 3.55, CFWGEO 3.55, Downgraded FW to 3.41, SLIM, PHAT, PAL, NTSC....

Ok so by now I'm sure you've all heard about the bricks caused by Waninkoko's CFW. What we should do is get as much information as we can about the consoles being bricked and the consoles that have had success. I propose the following format:

    Success?: Yes/No
    Model:
    Date of MFR (if available)
    Region (of console):
    FW before isntall:
    Other notes:

    Example -

    Success?: No
    Model: Slim 250Gb
Region: EU / UK / PAL
    FW before install: 3.55 Geohot
    Other notes: Never Downgraded

(note: The example was made up)

Please keep other posts to a minimum, this is just a fact-finding mission.

EDIT: OK! So it would appear that the firmware ALWAYS bricks a 256Mb NAND PS3 and "sometimes" bricks a 16Mb one. It's all irrelevant now as there are better, safer firmwares out there. The moral? DON'T FLASH WANINKOKO'S FIRMWARE!

    Success?: Yes/No
    Model: CECHExx
    Region: US
    FW before install: 3.55
Notes: Was on Geohots 3.55, but installed a clean OFW 3.55 first.

I've installed Waninkoko's firmware in recovery mode, but I can no longer install any packages. I get an error. (80029564)

    Success?: Yes
    Model: CECHL04 (Fat PS3 80GB)
    Region (of console): EU
FW before isntall: 3.55 geohot cfw
    Other notes:

Did a fresh install from Geohot cfw to offical 3.55 fw in recovery menu. then i installed Waninkoko's CFW in recovery menu and working fine. People with problem installing pkg's install the unsigned ones the ones for 3.41 working fine..

Other notes: Did the normal way, not recovery.

Could brick be caused by the region of the machines?
