FIX for PS3's connected only with bluraycontroller without bluraydrive!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

I just found out that I can start games now with the following trick:

• Start the game you want in your gamemanager.
• it brings you back to the XMB.
• now select /app_home/ps3_game but don't press X!
• press and hold the eject button for 12 seconds!
• release eject (you'll notice another blue led blinking) & now start the game an be happy!

hope it helps.
please, someone try this method on games that need a bluray inserted.

One thing to note.
By doing this you're resetting the bluray controller but it lasts only for some seconds. so you got to time it right.
you have to let it reset the controller while you start the game where it does it bluray/controller check.
Only downside is that when pressing the PS button, the game will jump back instantly to the XMB.

Hi Stami,
I tried your method with my fat 40 gb,
I have blueray drive with broken power cable (red) but the logic board is on and I can play demo and so on.

I tried Ken's rage game using last multimen,
then come t dash go to Ps3 home folder (didn't press x), then I hold the eject 12 seconds and see the blinking blue led and heard a sound from the consolle.
Then if I press X while blinking or after blinking i have the error
80028F14 and I cannot start the game.

Am i missing something?

try not using a loader with the new level36 method. i only tried the normal lv2/lv3 loaders.

I did it with Rogero Manager 7.9c Kmeaw LV2v5 3.55

I seem to have a similar situation as several of you... I have a 40GB PS3 Fat (CECHG01) and although the blue light comes on when a disc is inserted, as far as the system can tell nothing shows as being inserted. I had high hopes that discless mode would allow me to use this console again, but so far I'm still getting the 80028F14 error. I'm using kmeaw 3.55 and gaia manager 2.02.

Interestingly, using the same setup in my other PS3 (the slim one that I bought as a replacement when the other one went out) discless mode works correctly in the first game I tested out (Dead Rising 2). So it would seem that for discless mode to work, you still need a functioning bluray drive. Or are there other people out there that have got it to work with a broken drive?

And I'm even more pissed at Sony now that I hear that it may have been the 3.0 firmware update that hosed my bluray drive. Is there any way to downgrade to 2.x and see if this would restore functionality?
