Firmware on current shipped Ps3's

I got my ps3 a year ago and had 3.41 FW on it. This guy I'm helping online just got his ps3 a few weeks ago in Texas. He also had 3.41 FW on it originally. I asked where he got it. He said it's sony policy to ship with 3.41 FW all over the world.

I don't believe this (especially since JB happened). He said he's bought three this year and there all 3.41 out of the box. Can someone verify this? Cause my ps3 is fine and dont want to buy another one yet to sort this out.

Also if thats not true what FW is currently being shipped 3.56 or 3.60 I'm guessing?

Last I heard, there has not been a 3.56 seen on the market (unless you count best buy or gamestop where the f*** with your system sometimes).

I think 3.50s and 3.55s are what is out there. You would be lucky to find a new 3.41.

A lot of people that I know, who purchased the highest ps3 capacity, usually got low firmwares ie 3.41,3.50,3.55. I think its because people usually buy the cheaper ones so those are left over.

I got a new 160 GB slim from gamestop about 3 weeks ago and it came with 3.50.

If I were you, I'd check to see if there was a manufacture date on the box before buying a ps3. Only reason why people can buy a ps3 now and it won't have 3.56+ on it is because those probably weren't made this year. The ones that were made this year probably have dates from January - late February.

my partner recently got another 320gb ps3 and it had 3.55 on it so there is still a chance to buy a ps3 still.
