ok hi everybody sorry to seem ignorant and ask a question as my first post.. so i will introduce. im grant from scotland. im a music producer 24 years old play football games and im awesome at pro ev. ok my question is just got ps3 from ebay on firmware 3.41 what i just wanna know is should i stay on this or update to 3.55? also can sum step me threw how to do it ? thanks.

Unless you want to spend more money on a usb dongle for 3.41 and search for 3.41 patched games, go to Kmeaw's CFW for 3.55.

ill agree with previous people:kmeaw 3.55 is the way to go. im still on hermes cuz kmeaw didnt play well with the BMs during its "beta" stage and that scared me off. but now, i havent heard any probs with the slims or fats w kmeaw.
when it first came out i used it and it kept freezing and crashing but that was over a month ago now. lots of bugs worked out. basically 3.55 is the new 3.41, well at least as soon as the 3.60 eboots start comin out. Both cannot get online now. (AFAIK)

+You can downgrade back to this from 3.55, if you have the right device.
+New cheat device that requires you to be on 3.41 : PS3usercheat.com Driver V1.0 Released by PS3break Team!.
+All the old homebrew works with it, and almost all of the new ones.
+Most all games work, through patches and mod, etc.
-You have to unplug/switch the power off your PS3 everytime you want to "Jailbreak" it. Plus, there can not be a disc in the drive or you have to start the whole process over.
-You need a dongle or device.

3.55: CFW
+3D Blu-Ray support, right everyone?
+You do not need dongle or device.
+Everytime you turn on the PS3, the "Jailbreak" is instant. No unplug/switch. Disc or Discless it starts.
+Better Game Support, more then on 3.41, and with less hassle.
-Some old homebrew does not work.
-Some USB devices stop working.

Yes, go for the 3.55 kmeaw.
Have you gotten any savegames or important files so far?
If yes, I recommend you to back them up.
(Just on a USB stick or so.)
I had bad-luck and needed to format my HDD in order to use my PS3 after I installed 3.55 kmeaw.

nah this a seperate ps3 i hav another that iv had for years to play online with.... fav teams are.rangers and man united... also like barca when they r in europe been to the nou camp to see those muther fukersss:-)

Since noone here is going to give you the positive reasons of staying on 3.41...(probably since they are all on 3.55) I will...

btw... a lot people aren't aware of 3.41 Hermes CFW. It is just as good as the dongle was minus having to hard reset everytime. And with Hmanager as your backup manager it automatically loads the hermes payload for you, no need for any other hassles. Plus its a hermes payload so you cant go wrong on stability. This is just my opinion from my experiences, others may differ.

First off their is UPS and DOWNS to both...just depends on what is more important to you.

Pros of 3.41 - 1. Can play almost ALL games discless. This means if your blu-ray dies, you can still play games. 3.55 discless compatibility is crap which means if blu ray dies and your on 3.55, you cant play your games anymore. I suppose you could downgrade at that point if you have a dongle.

2. Maintains 3rd party controller support

Cons of 3.41 - 1. Games must be 3.41 in order to update which means if you get a 3.50 or 3.55 game, no updates for you. (until they find a way around NPDRM)

Pros of 3.55 - 1. Most new games (requiring 3.50, 3.55) can receive the latest updates without a problem.

***SIDE NOTE on game updates and game compatibility is now that 3.60 is out, 3.55 and 3.41 users are all in the same boat meaning we will ALL need modded eboots and other possible game fixes to get 3.60 games to work from this point on pretty much. And no new game updates for anyone.

2. 3d bluray MOVIE playback added (just movies. 3.41 can play 3d games). I cant afford a 3d tv so doesnt matter to me.

Cons of 3.55 - 1. Must almost always have a game disc in the tray. You lose 3rd party controller support.

Many things to consider. Just depends on what your take is on it.
