Find original firmware version

I have searched, but can't find a definite answer. I bought my son a ps3 320 GB move bundle for christmas. It forced him to update to 3.55 before it would let him play the game "call of duty black ops". He forgot to look at the original firmware version. Is there anywhere in the system menu that will tell you what upadte it started with? The manufactured date is september 2010. I am wanting to downgrade and I know that the system needed to be at 3.41 or you can't downgrade. Any help would really be appreciated.

Thank you. I think I will just read the nand chip. Back it up and try the downgrade that way if something goes wrong I can just flash the original firmware back.
