also if i clear my history with whatever program and then update anyone know if i will still get the ban hammer?
yes, if you want to have the best chance of not getting the hammer thats the way to go. remember though that nothing is certain.
well all i ever did was make a seperate psn account and used that to go online and never logged onto my other user name again. would my best bet be not to go onto that user until i go ofw?
any account you logged into on your ps3 while it was hacked will probably be associated with it, so if your other account hasnt been signed into during cfw use, use that one after you go legit, or start a new one. as to the account you used while on cfw, go ahead and use it as much as you like until you go legit.
Im kinda thinking of going legit again, but worried about getting banned.
All Ive ever used is the usb dongle JB, but I dont know how trustworthy deleting your PS3 "usage history" is.
frustrating :\
There's no guarantee you will or won't be banned. But the fact they emailed everyone claiming to give everyone a second chance tells me if it was cfw they were looking at not the dongles, which is why some never got anything from Sony.
If you really want to go legit the best way is to alteast backup the saves you can. Enter recovery menu, and I believe it was option 5. Restore PS3. It will format and reset all settings to factory defaults.
Think of it as pulling the plug on a alarm clock, you will need to reconfigure everything and re-enable wma playback and all that crap you did when you first purchased the ps3.
It's the best way to go legit as it removes practically everything relating to the jailbreak. There hasn't been a banwave so no one knows if they will keep their word or just ban. Although I still have that email incase Sony decides to be stupid. I've updated a few days after 3.56. I'm enjoying it right now, bought a few psone classics. PSN may never get to the level xbox LIVE, but it really isn't all that bad.
If you have friends on psn and most of them are IRL friends then the answer should be obvious, if you don't care about psn at all or it's content, then homebrew is where you want to be.
