A few downgrade questions!
A few downgrade questions! –
06-11-2012,07:50 AM
Hi all, I have a few questions regarding the downgrade. I have 2 80GB PS3's and a PAL 60GB (CECHC04) and I wanted to buy the E3 Flasher Limited to downgrade them (for the 60gb one i have to do a remarry, that is why I want to downgrade it) all are on 4.11. I did some research and I found out that I need a dongle (jig) to enter and exit from factory mode. Then the part that confuses me is that the 60GB PS3 has a NAND256 not a nor. they say that the e3 flasher limited is only for NOR consoles (so it will not help me).
Can a person that is 100% sure confirm that:
1. I need a dongle even if I use progskeet?
2. Does the progskeet reads/writes on both (nand and nor)?
3. If it does ^ what else do I need for it? I saw that there are 2 clips on it. (Can you please redirect me to a good tutorial, on how to downgrade with progskeet (soldering is not a problem))
4. Are you 100% that I CAN'T downgrade my CECHC04 with the e3 flasher limited?
Thank you. I'll update my post after I do some more research as it's kinda urgent to downgrade the consoles. I'm in a BIG need of money...
PS:
5. If I buy the Progskeet. I need to buy the Progskeet adaptor PCB too? Or that is only for Dual-Boot?

1 - yes, you still need one to enter FSM. Or, you can easily use PSPJig software or iPhone.
2 - yes, progskeet is universal programmer. However, it's not quite suitable as dualboot solution.
3 - I strongly suggest you on purchasing X360 clip (NAND) for it. The reason is that it's freaking hard - soldering to a NAND, even to the testpoints.
4 - No. Personally I'm 1000% sure that you can't do that.
5 - PCB adaptor wasn't designed for dualboot, just for simultaneous double NAND flashing at the same time.
BTW, that two 80G consoles could also be NAND ones. Check your model number.
And my personal advise - use progskeet (even if you have NOR), as it allowing you to control and monitor the whole process. There was a LOT of permabricks with E3 back that days.

I didn't knew that I can use an iPhone to enter/exit factory mode. thx
I'm not interested in dual boot at all, I just want to downgrade and sell the PS3s
At part 3 you say to buy the adapter and the PCB with the 2nd NAND. But I don't want to leave the Progskeet in the PS3 (from what you say it sounds like I'll use the progskeet nand not the PS3's one. (Also they are very expensive. The progskeet + adapter + nand = around 100/110$...)
Can I downgrade the PS3 with just the progskeet? Where can I find a diagram? I found some diagrams on the progskeet website but it doesn't specify for what PS3s they are... A link to a tutorial on how to downgrade a nand ps3 with just the progskeet would be SO HELPFUL! Thank you for your post.

Man, I didn't mean you to buy additional nand, just a clip for reading your mobo ones. As for the tutorial - www.ps3devwiki.org is crawling with them, perfectly organized. Make sure you read it all before doing something.

Yup I get it now why did you said it's a lot easier with a nand clip but still too expensive (it's like 30$). But now I'm sure that I can downgrade the PS3s with just the progskeet and thx for the iPhone tip (stupid question but I guess it works with an iPad Touch too, right? I have a 3rd gen 5.0.1)
I'll go study the ps3devwiki.
Wow... I'll have a headache 2 days starting now. In the devwiki tutorial it says to program the progskeet with injectus, does the v1.1 is already programed? or do I have to program it for every action? read/write? also I still couldn't find any diagram for a cok-001/2 mobo

v1.1 already programmed with nesessary bitstreams, so no need for infectus. However, some bugs still present - you can't dump or flash both NAND's at same time. Well, one by one goes fine though, so it's not that big pain in the ass.
And yes, iPod gets the job done.
Good luck in your struggles.
