How do I jailbreak this PS3? Are there any software jailbreaks or do I need a dongle?

All you need is a USB storage device.

Update to 3.55 official firmware.
Jailbreak by installing Kmeaw 3.55 CFW

I sugges tot then:
Install QA toggle
Update to Rebug 4.31 CFW

You need a HW flasher to downgrade, this is only if your PS3 can be downgraded. Only phats and some slims can be downgraded. Basically, slims higher than CECH-25xx and super slims (CECH-4xxx) cannot be downgraded. Check the link below for a guide:
