Fat 256mb NAND + Waninkoko v2: safe to swap hdd?

I have a release day fat PS3 (256mb NAND) currently running Waninkoko v2. Is it safe to just swap in a new 750gb drive without going back to 3.55 OFW first? I don't see how it could cause a problem but just figured I'd ask first to be sure.

You will be fine to do that. You should not have any fears of brickage.
